Signing in to your apps

You sign in to Taifa Identity once. After that, each app you are allowed to use should open without asking you again.

What you see

  1. Open an app and choose Sign in with Taifa Identity. Some apps first ask which Institution you work for.
  2. Taifa Identity asks you to confirm it is you, usually with your passkey.
  3. You return to the app, signed in.

Why a second app does not ask again

Taifa Identity remembers that you signed in on this browser. When you open another app, it recognizes that session and sends you straight back. You are asked again only if the app wants a fresh check for a sensitive step, your session has ended, or you are not set up for that app.

Your session ends after 30 minutes without activity, and always after 8 hours.

When an app says you are not set up

Signing in to Taifa Identity proves who you are. It does not give you a place in every app. Each app keeps its own list of people, so your Institution has to set you up in that app too, and a second person has to approve it.

  1. Note the app and the time you saw the message.
  2. Ask your Institution administrator to set you up in that app.
  3. Try again once they confirm. Do not create a second account.

How sign-out works today

Signing out of an app ends your session in that app only. Your Taifa Identity session stays open in this browser, so another app can still open without a new prompt until the session times out.

To end the central session on a shared computer, use the Review browser session link on a Taifa Identity page (it opens the sign-out page), choose Sign out, then close the browser. Taifa Identity can send sign-out notices to the apps, but apps do not yet start that for you, so do not rely on one sign-out to close everything.

If something goes wrong

Every error page shows a short reference. Give it to your Institution administrator with the time you saw the page. Nobody from Taifa Identity will ask for your password or codes.
